I started this book a couple weeks ago and it’s interesting to say the least.  I’m a couple chapters into the book and the beginning is sharing about the negative perspective people have about Christians.  There were six areas at issue.  Christians are being hypocritical; too focused on getting converts; anti-homosexual; too sheltered; too political; and, judgmental.

Obviously, all of these areas will not be addressed today in this blog.  However, as a Christian, I must say that my heart hurt a little bit with the negative perception in all these areas.  I literally had to take a step back as I noticed my emotional upheaval at reading this information.  The study was categorized by ages 18-41, 16-29, 42-60 and 61+.  I am not naive to the negative perspectives as my experience in the church has left me exposed to pain in some of these areas. I guess to have percentages and compilation coming at me in full force was a little unsettling.  I have neglected to take the big picture as serious as it is.

I have not finished the book yet but will be soon.  I wanted to read more because the author encourages the reader that it will get better.  Before I expound on the emotional upheaval that I felt, I will read some more. There are some insights from respected Christian leaders that I am interested in reading before I share. I just wanted to start the blog and share the book that I am currently reading for anyone interested in getting the book (library, bookstore) to get involved.  I welcome thoughts, comments, etc.

This category is non-fiction Christian.

  1. I am leaving this comment to remind my readers that these are my thoughts. Please keep this perspective as you read about the book. I will make a wholehearted effort to share my perspective with grace and receive comments in that same manner. Be blessed!
